I invented an all new pleasure today
Don’t know the why, don’t know the how or what people will pay
But the crowds are already knocking at my door
They don’t know what it is, but they all want more
The crowd to my right want to call it a sin
Tell their kids they better stop it before they begin
They been searching through their laws and their holy verse
To find a way to brand my brand new pleasure perverse
The people to my left want to call it a virtue
It’s a real good time, get a whole new world-view
It’ll feed the hungry, give sight to the blind
Makes your dick get bigger, it’ll open your mind
It’s side effects are similar to sugar pill
Take it on a full stomach or you might feel ill
Use only as directed – always respect it
Don’t smoke it, don’t snort it, don’t you go and inject it
You give it one thing and it returns another
You show it your rival, it shows you a brother
Take it on a clear mind, even it doesn’t know
The nature of the visions or the places you’ll go
Gives you God, gold and glory, 20 acres and a mule
Makes you hot to all the ladies, yeah, you’ll look real cool
You can shoot down the moon and the stars from the sky
Put your orders in now, it’s in short supply
Is it a terrible tragedy?
Is it a miracle of alchemy?
Is it a gift from up high sent to set us free,
Or trap to keep the power in the bourgeoisie?
It’s the animated soup of creation
It’s the endless string of mutation
It’s the mantra you chant, it’s the hymn you recite
It’s the madness it calms, and the twitches you fight
It’s the chemistry of sound, it’s the curse of invention
It’s the beating in your brain, obligation of creation
It’s the urges you disarm
Above all, do no harm
